THESE RULES WILL BE CHANGING FOR 2008

Multi-Engine Tractors

Class Rep – Peter Robinson

Weight not to exceed 7,900 lbs.

Class purse 5 tractors to receive a full purse of $2,650.00

Drawbar Length 18 inches

 

The following engine combinations are considered “maximum limitations” for vehicles that compete in this class.

 

1.   Three (3) blown wedge automotive engines, cast or aluminum, with 8-71 blower limit or single staged turbocharger.  No intercooler allowed with port fuel-injection only.

 

2.    Four (4) naturally aspirated big block wedge automotive engines, cast or aluminum.

 

3.    Five (5) naturally aspirated small block wedge automotive engines, cast or aluminum.

 

4.    Two (2) blown hemi or wedge automotive engines, cast or aluminum, with a 14-71 blower limit or  two (2) staged turbo chargers.  No intercooler allowed, port fuel-injection only.

 

5.     Three (3) naturally aspirated hemi automotive engines, cast or aluminum.

 

6.     One (1) Allison engine with twin turbo or auxiliary stage plus one (1) naturally aspirated automotive engine.

 

7.     One (1) Allison engine with single staged supercharger or turbocharger, injection or carbureted, plus one (1) wedge automotive blown engine with 8-71 blower limit.

 

8.     One (1) industrial or marine-type engine.  Diesels may have a maximum of two (2) compression stages.

 

9.     Four (4) T-53’s turbine engines with water and alcohol injection.

 

10.   Two (2) Packard’s on gas or alcohol, with 6.5-1 supercharger.  Stock Packard butterfly must be utilized.

 

11.   One (1) T-55 turbine engine with water injection.

 

12.   One (1) T-64 engine with water injection.

 

13.   All automotive engines may run a maximum of two (2) valves per cylinder and are limited to one (1) sparkplug per cylinder.

 

14.   Two (2) valve heads for big block Chevrolets that will not accept standard Chevrolet valve covers will not be allowed.  No Pontiac or similar style heads allowed.

 

15.   Two (2) Allison’s on gas with a maximum of 8.8-1 supercharged ratio, or two (2) Allison’s on alcohol with a maximum of 8.1-1.  Stock Allison two port butterfly must be utilized or a maximum of three (3) Holly 850 C.F.M. automotive type carburetors.  Must use SFI Spec 4.2.

 

16.   Three (3) 392 hemi engines must run original cast iron block and heads with a maximum of    8-71 blower.

 

17.   Allow three (3) Ranger aircraft engines with a maximum of 800 cubic inches each.  Single stage centrifugal chargers on alcohol with fuel injection.

 

Chassis

           Modified tractors that have the frame bolted to the transmission shall also have the frame bolted to the axle housing to prevent splitting of the tractor.  The frame must be of sufficient strength that even when the bolts from the plate of the transmission or rear end are removed, the frame still supports the weight of the tractor in the heaviest class being entered.

 

Driveline/Driveline Shielding

1.        No drive shaft over 48 inches long allowed.  No input or output shaft that attaches to drive shaft may extend more than 4 inches beyond a bearing.

 

2.        A minimum of 1 inch material between the bolt and end of the drive shaft shield.  A minimum of 1 inch material to be in pilot holder at each end of the drive shaft shield.  A minimum of 8, 3/8 inch (grade # 8) bolts to carrier bearing assembly if attached to a vertical plate.

 

3.        All carrier bearings must be approved by Great Lakes.

 

Tires

1.        Tires no more than 30.5 inches wide.

 

2.        Rim diameter limited to 32 inches on tire widths over 24.5 inches.
